About Auto Accident Injuries
According to the Oregon Crash Analysis & Reporting Unit (under the Oregon Department of Transportation), the number of motor vehicle traffic crashes in the state has increased significantly over the last decade.  In 2006, the number of crashes was reported at just over 45,000, whereas the data for 2016 shows just over 60,000 reported crashes.  This upward trend may be linked to a growing population, which is estimated to have increased by nearly half a million residents since the 2010 Census (from 3.83 million to 4.26 million in 2019).  Regardless, the potential for auto accidents and injuries is on the rise.

If you are involved in an automobile accident that leaves you with pain, either immediately or in the aftermath, it’s important to understand that you have options for professional help to alleviate pain and improve your long-term health outlook.  The talented and caring professionals at Centro Chiropractic Clinic treat hundreds of patients annually, many of whom have suffered pain and injury as a result of an auto accident.  We’re proud to help patients reduce pain, improve mobility, and return to work and life.

What to Do After an Auto Accident
While some people feel pain immediately after being involved in a car crash, many patients won’t experience pain symptoms related to the trauma for several days or even weeks.  In some cases, people assume that a crash that results in little or no damage to a vehicle can’t possibly cause pain or injury to the driver and passengers in the car.  This simply isn’t true.

Our bodies aren’t designed to withstand an impact or other forces (like whiplash) involved in a car accident.  Even though modern vehicles are equipped with safety precautions like seatbelts, airbags, and active headrests, just for example, it is still extremely likely that a crash, even at low speeds, will result in neck pain, back pain, or other injuries or pain symptoms.

The best thing you can do following an auto accident is visit a medical professional for diagnosis.  The qualified and caring chiropractors at Centro Chiropractic Clinic are trained to assess your spinal health and determine the best course of treatment to reduce pain now and ensure speedy recovery and long-term health outcomes.

Insurance Coverage*
After an auto accident, you may be concerned about how you’re going to pay for chiropractic care and support services that enhance the recovery process.  If you and/or the driver at fault for the accident have auto insurance (as required by Oregon state law), you needn’t worry.  PIP, or personal injury protection, is included in every Oregon auto insurance policy.

PIP provides for up to $15,000 of coverage per person injured in an auto accident, for up to a year of related medical expenses.  Some drivers opt to pay for higher PIP coverage as well, although it isn’t legally required.  This covers not only drivers and passengers, but also cyclists and pedestrians involved in accidents.  Deductibles do not apply to PIP coverage, which means you won’t have any out-of-pocket expenses (within the limits of coverage).
